Yup this is true. There have been many a Nikon users who have switched or at the very least bought some Canon equipment in order have IS technology. This seems to have put Nikon on their heels fast enough, though may not be fast enough (no big glass with IS yet). Pentax may have come to this realization with the DSLR.
