Barry, I purchased an "Acom USB 2.0" 40GB external drive and it is the
neatest thing. I use it between two systems for My Downloads,
plus backups, etc, it's the greatest thing, beyond words.
I installed front USB ports with USB 2.0 cards on these two systems, so
it's easy
to change over, and it also has a "Safely Remove Program" that
automatically installs when the USB HD is plugged in.

Subject: PCWorks: Maxtor External Hard Drive USB2.0/1.1

Hello list members! Have any of you purchased or are thinking about
purchasing an external storage device? If so have you heard of the Maxtor
3000LE Personal Storage Device? It comes in 40 Gigs and 120 Gigs and is
backward compatible with USB 1.1, but with a PCI card is fully capable of
connecting at USB 2.0 standards.

I have been pondering the idea of purchasing a CD-RW for a very long time
but because i would only use it as a backup device I think the external
hard drive makes more sense to me. What do any of you think? I would
purchase an IDE HDD as they are real cheap now but my motherboard is kinda
old and I do not want to take any chances that it will not support a modern
HDD or a drive that is massive.

So all who have an opinion please respond. Thank you!
