Given the multiple settings failing to apply here, all in body pane, I'm 
guessing it's a single bug with the body pane initialization, so:

4) Body pane color display settings all remain at default, not applying 
the custom color settings.

Collapsed thread with unread articles is now confirmed to be working (tho 
only after a restart, #3 above).  After setting non-default values (purple 
fg on green bg) and a restart I get what I set. =:^)

So it seems the only bug to add to the original three is #4 above, that 
the body pane code doesn't seem to be applying any color customization at 
all.
