Dave, can you check for me, does your kmail depend on or load gmime at all? Based on what would be installed here when I temporarily unmerged gmime to find out, kmail2 (akonadified) does NOT, but it appears you're still running a pre-akonadification kmail1 version, and it might. -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
