Hi,
On the download page: https://openindiana.org/downloads/ under section
"Download the current Hipster snapshot of OpenIndiana."

download links are pointing to 2025.04 while the latest is 2025.06, It
would be nice to have them updated.

Also, when is 2025.07 coming?

Best!

Atiq

Thanks for the information about the outdated links.

Usually we release installation images twice a year (April and October).
This year we needed to release the 2025.06 versions because the gui installer image released in AprilĀ  wasn't usable.

From time to time I upload test images into the test folder below https://dlc.openindiana.org/isos/hipster/ which can be used like the official images. The test folder gets cleaned up sometimes, though.

A remark: as OpenIndiana Hipster is a rolling release you typically don't need to download the newer images. They are only useful if support for newer hardware has been added (mostly by illumos-gate). Once you have installed OpenIndiana you can simply run pfexec pkg update (-v) to get the latest bits installed. Typically these bits are even newer than the latest installation images as we have frequent updates of packages.

And a final remark: The number of people contributing to OI Hipster is very low. We appreciate any helping hand.

I'm quite new to OI and illumos in general, just playing with it a bit. I'll be happy to help if somebody can give me some pointers for what to do or about OI stuffs in general.

PS: I come from GNU/Linux world if that's relevant. I'm yet to install illumos on hardware.
In this case you should make yourself familiar with OpenIndiana, e.g. by starting to read its documentation:
https://docs.openindiana.org/handbook/getting-started/
illumos based operating systems have some things inherited from Solaris that you cannot find elsewhere, eg. the modular debugger (mdb). A glimpse of that you can find in the illumos books: https://illumos.org/books/

When you are willing to contribute to OI you can start building packages on you own system. An introduction can be found at https://docs.openindiana.org/dev/userland/

Feel free to use the mailing list or IRC to ask for help and further information.

Andreas
