We have a Spectra T50e for video archive at NewsChannel5 and use SGL
software to manage it. I was at NAB as well, but I didn't look at any new
software to drive our archive. I believe LTO is expect to have a long shelf
life, assuming you have a working drive to play it on. Ours are LTO-5,
which now is yesterday's news (good thing that is what we store on it), so
I don't know how long  we will be able to get LTO-5 capable tape readers.
At the T50e's price point, I don't see that a $1000 software is very
different in cost to a $4000 one - if you archive video and have a T50e,
$4000 isn't that much money, after all.
I'm interested in what you find.
