yall, i think we can accomplish your requirements w/o making nant-contrib obsolete. it has it's place as the venue to extend nant. if i can extend nant for myself, why shouldn't i share my work w/ the community without "poluting" nant core.
if there's a whole bunch of nant-contrib tasks that are deemed core, let's move them there. those tasks that create dependencies to stuff that isn't common shouldn't be in core -- like, say, if i couldn't build/test nant because i don't use VSS. the real problem, IMHO, is that getting a nant-contrib bin (or source) doesn't get the matching nant core bin/source. the dependency is backward in the current offering (no?). also, there should be a way to auto-unit-test nant-contrib, just like nant. this is about nant-contributor discipline. also also, nant-contrib could be more granular, so if i don't want VSS stuff, i should have to get it. this does mean some development of nant-contrib infrastructure. i vote for improving it instead of scrapping it. /jean > -----Original Message----- > From: David Reed [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2003 16:03 > To: Erv Walter; Foley, Cash; [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: Obsolescing NAntContrib [was RE: [nant-dev] Re: > [Nant-users] 0.8.3 final] > > > Erv, > > I think what Cash is asking is the same thing I proposed a week or two > ago: solve the NAntContrib problem by merging the projects > and obsolescing the contrib project completely.
