Dear All,
I am looking for geometric morphometric papers where people compared, in 2D photos, the magnitude of digitization error (same pics landmarked twice or more) with that due to the orientation of the specimens (two pics or more for each specimen). I'd like to know how much variance the different sources accounted for and I am mainly interested in this when applied to 'highly 3D' structures such as vertebrate crania, mandibles, long bones etc.

Dear Andrea,
apologies for the delayed reply. These kind of analyses on fish body shape are present in my 2016 review

- Fruciano 2016 - Development Genes and Evolution https://doi.org/10.1007/s00427-016-0537-4 (Tables 3 and 5, depending on whether a correction for body arching was performed)

I suppose fish body shape is approximately "as 3D" as mandibles (i.e., relatively flat). I am also quite confident you know this particular paper, but I thought I would mention it in the unlikely case that you haven't noticed this specific analysis and/or in case anyone else is interested in the topic.

Best,
Carmelo
