Dear all, dear Andrea,
I take the opportunity of Andrea email to advertise a paper we have just published with Vincent Bonhomme and Julien Claude.

Optimizing digitalization effort in morphometrics
Biology Methods and Protocols, Volume 5, Issue 1, 2020, bpaa023,
https://doi.org/10.1093/biomethods/bpaa023

This study is only about 2D and we compared 18 different analytical approaches including landmarks, sliding semi-landmarks and outline analyses (and linear measurements) using various R packages and settings. We quantified intra and inter-operator measurement error in picturing and landmarking and we contrast the amount of error with a biological signal (2 groups discrimination). We also looked at the effect of reducing the number of sliding semi-landmark coordinates in both error and discrimination power.

All the very best

Dear All,
I am looking for geometric morphometric papers where people compared, in 2D photos, the magnitude of digitization error (same pics landmarked twice or more) with that due to the orientation of the specimens (two pics or more for each specimen). I'd like to know how much variance the different sources accounted for and I am mainly interested in this when applied to 'highly 3D' structures such as vertebrate crania, mandibles, long bones etc.

Suggestions on refs or pdfs are very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Andrea
