As you may have noticed from my previous posts I'm using Mandrake Linux 8.2. I have an Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem which is working fine for internet connection. Don't know about networking 'cause my computer is a stand-alone. I had some problems with getting connected but basically I did the following: Downloaded and installed the Speedmanagement (mgmt.o) file from Alcatel. Run Mandrake's control center Network and internet wizard. Edit the /etc/ppp/peers/adsl file so that the line starting pty... has the following settings -vpi 0 -vci 35. Connect to the internet with the button on the desktop. Note: I am still getting an error: "Connection failed..." and after a while get "Not connected" but there is a connection. Open web browser (Konqueror I like the most) or e-mail normally. Hope this helps.
