Have you used any of those devices on OpenBSD?

(I got very far in considering such a UPS arrangement a couple of years ago but, no, so I am talking through my hat here.)

You'll want to constrain your hardware search to devices which support NUTS properly. It is in Ports:

$ grep -E '^V|^H' /usr/ports/sysutils/nut/Makefile
V=              2.8.5
HOMEPAGE=       https://networkupstools.org/

Can you share your experience with it?

1) Talking with a local battery shop, and reading a bit, you have to replace the full set of UPS batteries every 4 to 5 years. These are big and expensive and polluting.

2) There are several kinds of UPS to be aware of: double-conversion, line interactive, and offline.

3) As an alternative, for a while, long ago, I had my most central OpenBSD system set up read-only. But that might not be feasible or advisable any more. It isn't for me now. One side effect of that arrangement was that unclean shutdowns did not write the system clock so it drifted rapidly.
