Why not run OpenBSD virtualised? There is an array of hypervisors working very well. It becomes a fine experimental platform this way, as you can as many VMs as you want. For example, VMware Fusion is now free to use, requiring no license, and it's trivial to use. Works well on my M1 Pro.
