You can. If you want different expiration periods per source mailbox,
it'll be easier to have different virtual mailboxes (perhaps one per
time period).
Each of my auto-expunge virtual mailboxes has a mailbox condition that
selects the messages to which it applies, and a few rules that do the
actual deletion if the message is older than a certain amount (in my
case, partially determined by tag).
