Well Paul, I guess that in this case you could say I also don't know what I'm talking about. However I have to agree with Edward. My experience has been that my Macs have been far less stable then my associates windows machines. I've used every OS since 7.2 - and even that OS wouldn't work properly on the machine I purchased it for (PowerMac 7200) way back when. The first thing I had to do after buying the machine was order an update disk from Apple, for an additional 20 bucks. After that we went through a number of hardware replacements for about a year, then more changes to the OS, then a new machine, then more changes ... and still never a stable system.

My Windows friends and associates, just work merrily watching me run one diagnostic disc after another. TTP. Norton. Disc First Aid, Disc Warrior, Hard Disc Tool-Kit, AppleCare-Techtools, etc. etc. etc. Having worked on various of both platforms - at home and in the office of various employers, I agree with Edward. The Mac is not all it's cracked up to be.

However - that being said, I do find OS_X Jaguar, to be probably the best of all of Apple's programs to date. Unfortunately, like most others I'm not in a position to replace all my Apps to conform to OSX, and for that mater, even when I am in the position to upgrade some apps still after two years are not yet available for OSX.(e.g. Pagemaker 7)

Just my 2 bits worth.

Money is one reason. The upgrade costs would be a few hundred $'s.

OK. A valid personal reason.

There is also the reason is why? If OS 9 works for *ME* there is no compelling reason to go to OS X.

As a side issue it is clear to me that OS X is not ready for the home market
*YET*. Even OS 9 is no great shakes, I really don't find it that stable. I
may be speaking hearasy but MAC is not the greatest thing since slice bread.
Its good, but not great as everyone seems to think.

Total nonsense. You don't know what you're talking about.
