Holy Jeez, yer askin' for it.

Asking for what, exactly, I don't know, as I've never used a processor from
one Mac in another. Like, I've put in processor upgrades that were INTENDED
for the system they were going into, but this is different. It sounds risky
to me.

Anyway, your 7600 ( http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/7600.shtml ) DOES have the
same front side bus speed. But, the 9600 (
http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/9600.shtml ) did use a very different
processor... And maybe an incompatible motherboard. But, Sonnet's G3 and G4
processor upgrades do work across both models, so maybe there are more
similarities than I think and it's okay... Or maybe Sonnet's self
configuring System Folder extension handles this? In which case, there would
be no software handling this for you and your situation.

Here's Sonnet's page:

Here's Mac Warehouse Canada's page (where I first noticed that this upgrade
runs on both your and the seller's machines):

Good luck. Maybe someone else can help on this?
