There is no special option. It is a side effect of the packaging approach. The package names include the version 3.4, 3.5. The rpm/deb package managers think that they are different packages. The windows installer ignores the name and uses a special ID that is bundled inside the installer. We do not change the ID for different Windows versions. I agree that the should be consistent. Well, I am not sure what solution is correct. Most normal users do not want to have several LO versions installed in parallel. So, maybe, we should rather "fix" the Linux solution.
