You really distrust CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS, don't you.  I take the view
that security is important, as is optimising (now that everything
builds so slowly).i  Yes, sometimes CFLAGS _do_ screw up occasional
packages.   Anyway, I don't think I've got a machine in a suitable
state to try a build without my flags.

In any case, it could be something else entirely, at this point I'm
only interested in whether my results are unusual or normal.  On my
previous two cross-chapter5 builds, and my one build in mid-June
where the new style was in trunk, I did not run tests for tcl (that
was added on 22nd June, r11981).

Thanks, but I don't think that will be necessary at the moment.  I'm
