I wrote the infamous item 3 in

and I'll explain it here. We are talking about assigning accelerators in
translations (i.e., putting yourself a "~" before the letter you want to
be used an accelerator).
If you do not assign accelerators manually (i.e., you ignore "~"):
- Pro: OpenOffice will (and now I'd say, "should"!) assign them
automatically
- Con: OpenOffice may make odd choices of accelerators
- Con: Some accelerators may be missing; we are still investigating
this, maybe related to non-ASCII characters in menus.
If you assign accelerators manually:
- Pro: you have more control
- Pro: you are sure that accelerators are defined
- Con: you may introduce conflicts (i.e., assign the letter "A" to two
items in the same menu); this makes the second menu item not reachable.
- Con: translation memories can be confused since they may not recognize
that "~File" and "File" are the same word.
Existing accelerators are harmless, so no need to remove them. This only
concerns newly translated strings.
If I was to translate to Greek (non-ASCII language) with the knowledge
we have now, I would probably leave existing accelerators as they are
and I would use "~" in new translations (but I would try to avoid
conflicts, and this is very hard to do since you cannot see the menu; so
be prepared to fix them, once translation is at 100% we can produce a
test build to check this problem and anyway we need to investigate the
above issue properly very soon).
