Right, this is what has been said before, but even when using the old version,
we have not been able to demonstrate that it ever worked that way; nor how it
deals with the use-case of intentionally moving a maximised window to a
non-maximised window.

It seems like what you're observing is X11-specific, because it has never
worked that way on Wayland... at least, not in my tests with the versions
reported, or in my memory before that.

So, for you, it is a change in the behaviour of X11 kwin, for lucas, it is a
change between X11 kwin and Wayland kwin, and for me, it is just normal Wayland
kwin behaviour.

We still don't know how it handles when the user wants to move a maximised
window to a non-maximised window. We could try that old version of kde, but
with X11 this time... but I can't spin up VMs right now (selinux problems here)
would you mind doing the test this time?
