but in principle you can also use the SourceForge.net online Subversion 
browser and download the files manually

MacOS X are listed at <http://subversion.apache.org/packages.html#osx>.

The full documentation is available as an online book 
<http://svnbook.red-bean.com/> but there are many online tutorials 
available where you can learn the basics (which is normally all you 
need) in 15 minutes.
