I would very much like to have this feature in maven-dependency-plugin. And I genuinely believe it would save aggregated years of developer and build manager time. Wouldn't an opt-in flag address the "not needed for everyone" concern? Something like: ``` mvn dependency:tree -DshowSizes ``` Default stays `false`, so existing output/tooling that parses the tree text (if any?!) is untouched. Size would come from the already-resolved `Artifact.getFile().length()`. No extra resolution step is needed, as `tree` already resolves every node to a local file. "total" is just the recursive sum over a node's subtree, computed while rendering (same recursion the tree printer already does). Same idea would apply to the `dot`/`graphml`/`json` output types. `json` in particular seems like a natural fit for this (`fbeaufume`'s external tool above basically re-implements that against a saved tree). -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
