I ran this script successfully for the 10.5 release on a machine that has limited internet access. So it works for me; hopefully others. I don't like the added verbosity :-/ Disclaimer: I don't know python; the changes were completely done by Claude. AI LLM generated description: > Both used raw http.client connections straight to the target host, bypassing http_proxy/https_proxy (only honored by urllib.request elsewhere in the script). On networks without direct internet egress, this hangs indefinitely instead of failing or succeeding quickly. Route through the proxy when configured (absolute-form request for HTTP, CONNECT tunneling via set_tunnel() for HTTPS), and add a timeout so a failure here no longer blocks the whole release validation. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
