Review Comment:
   thanks @mayya-sharipova for spotting this, it's possible that this 
`earlyTerminated()` being `true` would accidentally trigger brute force for 
filtered search (whereas this is an optimization, hence we don't want to do 
brute force here). 
   I'll see what I can do here.
