Hmm I had misread your benchmark and just realized that the new impl was already faster when numBytesPerInt is 0. I'm not sure we should care too much about other values of `numBytesPerInt`, it makes the job of the CPU too easy since conditions are easily predictable, this wouldn't occur with real data? -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
