Another possible reason I'm thinking is that maybe `readMSBVLong` is not as hot as `readVLong` so compiler is not optimizing it enough, or the `readbyte` in statistic context may confuse JVM with the abstraction layer? -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
