This would mean that users who do not enable the Parama vector API would get a bit worse performance compared to today, but users who care about performance would most likely be able to do that? Perhaps I could attempt to implement both scalar and vectorized versions of different compression formats in order to assess the extent of performance degradation in the scalar version and performance enhancement in the vectorized version.
