I agree, I am a supporter of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_aren%27t_gonna_need_it philosophy, so if we are not breaking any test in Lucene I suggest we go with the change(and potentially in Solr, but this won't strictly be necessary anymore as they are separate projects now). Better having an improvement now and an unlikely third party to complain in the future than something not working well now and unlikely third party happy for backcompat :) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
