@dweiss I don't think I had got you wrong, I wanted to make sure I had understood what you meant and that I was not missing a simplification for the backward-compatibility logic. This will certainly be a bit challenging to maintain, similarly to the surrogate dance we did when changing the order of the terms dictionary years ago.
