Opened #2190 to make the Polaris question concrete: it adds Polaris conformance as an **opt-in** test (skipped unless `POLARIS_URI` is set), with setup documented in CONTRIBUTING. All 27 conformance subtests pass against `apache/polaris:1.8.0`.
