I do think that's worth checking out in a follow up, or maybe better yet, just not re-writing the spec every time into the manifest at all. We can probably fix that in V4 For sure, Having it in V4 would force every writer to abide by it and asserting. I suggested this as our spec says this "A manifest stores files for a single partition spec" but agree on how it becomes a grey area on the way this is enforced as each file would have spec_id_x where as manifest tracking the file points to spec_id_y ! -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
