The C6100 series is supported as of HPLIP 1.6.9. It appears that hplip is not running.
What happens if you run; /etc/init.d/hplip restart Also run hp-check and post the output. If you get any errros afrer running hplip restart, run in another terminal-- tail -f /var/log/messages and then re-run the /etc/init.d/hplip restart and post any errors in the /car/log/messages.
