Well not directly. 

But if you cannot solve it and you will simply install Ubuntu you
will find that hplip works flawlessly there. On top, you will
find a bunch of install instructions and troubleshooting hints
on the hplip webpage. 

Personally, I use the recent version of
hplip with ubuntu dapper LTS (LongTermSupport) in the flavours
of (K)ubuntu and (X)ubuntu and it works like a dream.
