HPLIP will work on SuSE 9.1. However the current problem will be finding a SuSE 9.1 repository to download and install the required dependencies. I tried to locate a repo but didn't have any luck.. Johannes may be able to advise.
The steps will be the same as 10.1 once the dependencies have been downloaded and installed. Hope this helps...
