I am afraid, I cannot help here.

The only issue I know about where I can help is which RPM package
provides PyQt. From Suse Linux 9.3 (first version where we had HPLIP)
up to Suse Linux 10.0 PyQt is in the package "kdebindings3-python".
Since Suse Linux 10.1 it is in the package "python-qt".

By the way:
As far as I know the HP Officejet Pro K550 series support PCL3
so that it should work with various PCL3 drivers.
In particular it should work with the HPIJS driver which is
included in Suse Linux 9.1 but I cannot find the K550 on
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/tech_docs/device_classes.html
so that I don't know its compatibility class (i.e. which
compatible other model the user may choose in the printer
setup tool).

Kind Regards
