my group was getting succefully archived before the mail-archive server downtime. Now

Well, I'm pretty convinced at this point that I am just getting
clobbered by disk I/O and copying a lot small files is inherently
slow. CPU load is hovering around 1%. Same result if I use tar instead
of cp. I've already talked to the reiserfs folks, and will try the
lkml to see if they have suggestions.  I will continue to keep the
mail-archive homepage updated.

Well, here's the exact story. Backups are being restored from a
snapshot taken about 50 days ago. All mail (every last messages,
including the ones coming in as I type) since then is available, but
needs CPU time (approximately 50 CPU days worth!) before it can be
served as part of an archive. And who knows when Mail-Archive will
have 50 extra CPU days to spare.
