Basically, this is harddisk to harddisk copy, and
each disk benchmarks with hdparm -tT at 50MB/s
or higher. Using "cp -prdf" of the files (zillions of
small HTML files) I am seeing a throughput of about
0.5 MB/s. Given that a day only has ~84 thousand seconds,
I have lots of time for suggestions.
Is it a Linux server? You would probably get good
answers from the linux-kernel mailing list if
you described the situation (including what's on
the disk, to give them an extra reason to care).
