Both Portage and Paludis are following the spec. The spec isn't incorrect, it just doesn't fully describe the necessary behavior. At worst it is incomplete. Virtually all specs are. The only way you'll ever have a complete spec is if you call your implementation the spec, and then you lose the benefit of having specs in the first place. However, it is a moot point - a proposed improvement has already been made, and the matter of adopting it is before the council. Rich
