Hi Ruslan,

thanks for clarifying that … well Apache Jira is absolutely ok in that case.

However, I did look into your list in order to check what was up with the PPMC
member removal and I find this really odd.
There was a discussion on the private list about removing a PPMC member because
he is involved in another project.
First off all … I would assume 90% of all Incubator mentors are involved in
more than one project here, so that’s a realy strange reason for proposing to
remove someone.

I would really like to hear his side of the story … because I think there
probably is a story … considering that you are willing to keep people in the
PPMC/PMC that don’t even actively contribute code at all.

I did a quick check, and he did indeed stop contributing in 2017, however for
bhliva and OlehMartushevskyi I have nothing on file, dzenbuddiii and
VadymKuznetsov seem to also have stopped contributing code in 2017, ioleksandr
stopped contributing in 2019.
So why remove only him?

When looking for his contributions (cause it seems he’s also no longer a
committer … or never was), I noticed the last commit having been done in early
February and commit activity in general has dropped to almost 0 … it seems
other IPMC members have also noticed that and your response was, that
development is happening in peoples branches … however
https://github.com/apache/incubator-datalab/branches
Shows that the epm-v2.5.2.1 branch was the last one to be updated and that was
2 months ago … “master” was even last updated 4 months ago.

So, are you referring to people working on datalab in their own forks? But
https://github.com/apache/incubator-datalab/forks?include=active&page=1&period=2y&sort_by=last_updated
doesn’t seem to be confirming this. I can see that there are 2 forks on which
something is happening … one seems to be a repo in which someone is running a
dependency update bot, and only one with active work (Guess that’s the new
committer prospect).

So … the more I look, the more the project feels aiming for retirement more
than for graduation. (Not implying it should retire)

Chris

Project
Hi,

I apologize for the misunderstanding.
By 'centralized project management system,' we mean ASF Jira. We do not use
any other project management systems.

Thanks.

Best regards,
