These patches are still useful and I would like to go ahead with them. I am in favour of using my implementation as it is a bit stronger, but it also requires my larger FMV series to be approved first.
Can you ping your larger FMV series? I strongly suspect everyone is digging out from everything that queued up while the trunk was in bugfixing stages.

Yangyu -- what are your thought here? If we went with Alfie's patch, does it solve the problems you're interested in, and what patches of yours would still be relevant if we incorporated Alfie's work?
