Now that I've looked at the FreeDOS install disk, I realize that it's of course not as simple as this. I thought the whole FreeDOS install process used an El Torito hard disk image for boot, that ran FreeDOS and contained all the files for setup or live, but I now realize that it's a bit more complex, as you also want people to be able to install/run live from the same CD without having to boot from it (which is a nice feature indeed). Also it seems that the target is indeed fixed to C: This means that duplication of the ISO content wouldn't really work in this case.
