In all due respect, I think you folks are telling yourselves a story. I thought I read (over and over, actually) that it was imperative that we not discuss taper-unfriendly bands, because with all the fuss about the Internet as a vehicle for music piracy, we want to keep the Napster police off of etree's case.
If I were a taper-unfriendly band and I was browsing db.etree and I saw my band listed, "non-tradable" or not, I'd call my lawyer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "br0thercr0w" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > the etree db is simply a tool to keep track of what a user has. that and > that alone. > there is no law against having an illegal recording, IT IS illegal to sell, > trade, or give away an illegal recording. that is why you can find such > bands/people as the beatles, frank zappa, pink floyd, and even prince listed > on the db, altho they are all groups/people who don't/didn't allow > recording. > that is also why the "add new show" function on the db has a "tradable" or > "non-tradable" field when filling in the info for a new show that you are > adding shows to your list. > you can do whatever you want to do with the shows you have (i.e. trade > whatever you want), but it is asked that for legality you not list > taper-unfriendly bands as tradable. > i am going to see about getting what once was the etree list of taper/trader > friendly bands updated (it has fallen by the way side). once this is done it > should go a long way to solving this problem. > > ...delighted to be one of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] members helping others ... > love2all > brothercrow(~): ) > > music trading list @ : http://db.etree.org/br0thercr0w > =========================================================== > > ..,;;##########::,.. > .;##'' ,/| ``##;. > .;#' ,/##|__ `#;. > .;#' /######/' `#;. > ;#' ,/##/__ `#; > ;#' ,/######/' `#; > ;#' /######/' `#; > ;#' ,/##/___ `#; > ;# ,/#######/' #; > ;# /#######/' #; > ;# ,/##/__ #; > `#; ,/######/' ;#' > `#;. /######/' ,;#' > `#;. ,/##/__ ,;#' > `#;. /######/' ,;#' > ##;_ |##/' _;## > :#`-;#;... |/' ...;#;-'#: > :`__ `-#### #\\ ,//# ####-' __': > : ``----------. `' ' ..---------'' : > `.. `---------` '---------' ..' > `:......., / : : \ ,..,. ..:' > :# : :: :: ; #' > `'##;##;##;##;##`' > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "NDB" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "etree" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Monday, February 04, 2002 8:52 PM > Subject: Fw: [etree] Getting Started...CAN OF WORMS ANYONE? > > > > NOW we get to the heart of a HUGE problem.
