OK, I can confirm that on my machine the Firefox address bar drop down stays 
up, but only as long as what I type matches entries that I had previously 
typed at some point and have now been cached.  If as I type the entered string 
is different to cached entries, then the drop down choices disappear too.

This happens on different desktop managers, PCs and distros - so not e17 
related.

Unless .... you're describing something different that I do not see here?
