So it must be virtuoso, what's missing, because the first thing I kill and prevent from restarting in KDE is always Nepomuk. ;) For Akonadi my setup is not to start it, if it is not used, but allow to start it by programs that actually use it. In fact I am thinking of switching MUA, too. Claws Mail seems to be a good option, lighter weight than KMail, but fast and reliable. However, it's Gtk, which I don't like that much, although it looks quite ok in Xfce. The other candidate I am looking at is Pine. Completely neutral of any GUI, because it has none. ;) Let's see...
