Thanks, that's how I'll do it, then! To make it clear, however: I don't have problems with KDE apps, only a little issue with KMail. When I try to start if from the applications menu, it tries to invoke Akonadi. But then it crashes, seemingly, because Akonadi doesn't come up quickly enouigh. Clicking again on "Kmail" in the applications menu then works just fine.
In Xfce I have the same issue, but not in KDE. This might seem obvious, but it isn't, as I start KDE without Akonadi. The service is only invoked, when a program needs it, and KMail is the only program I use, that depends on Akonadi. So there must be something else, that only KDE does, but not Xfce and e. All other KDE programs run just fine, and I can say the same for Gtk apps. BTW, one of the things I really like about e, is the fact, that it has its own look and feel, and is not clone #327 of the window managers and desktop environments that are based on Gtk or Qt.
