:) it's tough - but true. it sucks. as such you can't claim ignorance now.
that's normally the best method. wait for a cease and desist and then do
whatever is appropriate. but as you know - you run a higher risk.

i'd invent a new input method that doesn't violate the patent. take the
principal and change it so its different enough not to violate. then implement
that.
