I just realized that the above is a bit hard to parse.
In other words, E 0.16.7.2 also with 1.4.0-1ubuntu1 on an older ubuntu gutsy
install, running a 3840x2400 with icon snapshotting and a pager, is able to
iconify and restore windows without delay on a single core 2.8Ghz CPU and an
imlib2 1.4.0-1ubuntu1 that isn't compiled with MMX either (looks like ubuntu
didn't update libimlib2 between dapper, the desktop machine with E16.7 and
hardy the laptop with E16.8)
So, there must be something else on my hardy laptop or a new option or new
code in E16.8 that is causing the slowdown.
