Hello, First off, DR17 rocks. I just finished compiling the sources from CVS. The last time I used it before I built my latest workstation was almost 6 months ago. I think that was around DR17.26. Now it's at what? 37? DR17 is really starting to feel slick. Because of this, I really want to experiment with using DR17 as my primary UI and keep GNOME as my preferred application framework in places where EFL might not make the most sense (an EFL-based word processor maybe?).
Anyway here goes: Is there way for DR17 to "inherit" gnome-applets? I am not sure if the applets require Metacity of if they are bound to gnome-panel could is there maybe a DR17 applet that can act as a tray for gnome-applets? At this point I am considering trying to run Enlightenment with a small gnome-panel, but that seems a bit ugly as it would not remain consistent with the rest of DR17. Another quick question: since DR17 is aiming to become a lightweight desktop shell, does it have a file manager so one doesn't need to use nautilus? How does DR17 handle file associations and preferred applications? Are there any thoughts on using a relational engine (such as SQLlite) to power DR17 file manager and add some really slick "live queries" ala BeOS?
