Have not heard of a Type 4 (just 1, 2 & 3). You might try to get an external
charger that attaches to your AC adaptor. This will charge & condition your
batteries. This may help extend battery life. Try to find the latest model
charger that's compatible with Type 3 batteries.

To conserve some juice, turn down the screen brightness as low as possible
while using the battery.
