Bsd apparently has a sub-set of the commands available in Gnu&Linux so sometimes things probably do have to be re-written a bit for Mac and FreeBsd (and the rest). On the Gnu&Linux side if it works in Ubuntu then it probably doesn't even need testing in other Debian family such as Mint. It might be interesting to hear from someone running a completely different family such as Redhat, Slackware, Arch or one of the independents such as SliTaz. However, you have plenty to make a good bug-report as it is. Further testing can be done by other people in the QA Team as part of normal bug-triaging.
