Hello,

I'm glad someone from the core development team brings this up.

I've lost motivation to contribute to Django after the many failed
attempts to improve WSGI support. I consider myself of the users Shawn
Milochik describes: "There is frustration on the part of some Django
users who would like to contribute but feel that anyone not in the
core dev team is a third-class citizen with a tiny voice, and think
that spending any time working on a ticket is slightly less likely to
be worthwhile than writing an iPhone app and hoping Apple approves it
for the App Store ".

I am involved in many other Free Software projects and I can tell you
Django is the least contributor-friendly out of them. I can understand
that implementing feature requests is not something exciting if you
contribute in your spare time and you're not particularly interested
in that feature, but leaving potential contributors behind is
something I wouldn't understand.

My two cents,

 - Gustavo.
